Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia can become a full-time responsibility. You may be helping with meals, bathing, medications, appointments, housekeeping, safety, supervision, and countless other needs every day.

Companion Senior Care provides in-home respite care as part of the Medicare GUIDE (Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience) Model for qualifying families in our rural Texas communities.

What Is the GUIDE Program?

GUIDE is a Medicare dementia-care program designed to help people living with dementia remain safely in their homes and communities while giving their family caregivers additional education, resources, coordination, and support.

For qualifying families, GUIDE may include Medicare-covered respite care, allowing a trusted caregiver to step in while the family caregiver rests, attends appointments, runs errands, spends time with family, or simply gets a much-needed break.

What Can In-Home Respite Look Like?

During respite care, a Companion Senior Care caregiver can step into the family caregiver's role and provide support such as:

• Personal care and assistance with daily activities
• Meal preparation
• Companionship and supervision
• Mobility assistance
• Medication reminders
• Light housekeeping and household laundry
• Activities and engagement
• Safety monitoring
• Giving the family caregiver time away from caregiving responsibilities

The goal isn't simply to “sit with” your loved one.

Our goal is to give you a real break from caregiving while making sure your loved one is safe, comfortable, respected, and cared for at home.

Who May Qualify?

GUIDE eligibility is based on Medicare and dementia-related requirements — not household income.

A person generally must:

✓ Have a diagnosis of dementia
✓ Have Medicare Parts A and B as their primary coverage
✓ Not be enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan
✓ Meet other Medicare GUIDE eligibility requirements
